I am of colonial-settler ancestry. Though my family is originally from both England and the Netherlands, we have benefited greatly from living on Turtle Island. As a visitor here, and living adjacent to the Hiawatha First Nation of Rice Lake, I respectfully acknowledge that I live and work on the treaty and traditional territory of the Michi Saagiig Anishinaabeg. I am grateful for their stewardship of this land, and for their teachings about our earth and the interconnectedness of all things.
