Wedding Officiant based in Kawartha Lakes, Ontario
“I think... if it is true that there are as many minds as there are heads, then there are as many kinds of love as there are hearts.”
— Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina
As a secular wedding officiant, I serve couples in the Kawartha Lakes, Peterborough, Port Hope, Cobourg and beyond, creating an original, personalized ceremony that reflects your story, your values and beliefs, and honors the traditions of your families.
“She took our love story, and not only customized the ceremony, but she made it important to her, which was evident by the care and emotion in her voice. ”
I'm here to help you plan a meaningful ceremony that is inclusive and welcoming to everyone, whether you decide to make your event traditional or whimsical, formal or casual, modest or elaborate. Your ceremony should reflect your individual journey and values as a couple whatever your reason for choosing to marry, and however that looks to you.

“We did things a little differently than the average wedding and Nancy was able to incorporate that into our ceremony flawlessly. She understood what we wanted and presented it in a way that spoke volumes to our guests. I would highly recommend her to anyone who wants to have a different spin to their ceremony. Caring, compassion and complete understanding of the couple is her specialty.”

We connect virtually – either by telephone, FaceTime or Zoom – to answer your questions and talk about your plans.
If you decide we’re a good match, you complete my Wedding Services Agreement to book your ceremony date.
Approximately 2 months prior to your wedding date, we meet again – in person if possible – so I can get to know you better.
I create a first draft and together we share edits and revisions to finalize the perfect ceremony script.
On your wedding day I arrive early to coordinate with your suppliers and the wedding party, making sure everyone knows what to expect.
I perform the ceremony, complete the paperwork, and send your marriage license to the Office of the Registrar General to be legally registered.

About Me
I grew up in Owen Sound, graduated from Trent in Peterborough, waitressed, sold advertising, taught English as a second language to adults and finally English to high school students. Now, I spend my time on our farm just south of Peterborough with my husband, our horses and my rescue pup Sunni.
I love being an officiant because it combines the best parts of my life experiences. Teaching has taught me to be well prepared, flexible and to maintain my sense of humour. As a wedding officiant, I want to make people feel heard and then tell their stories in an open minded and non-judgmental way.

I support the marriage of any two people who are in love, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, race, or religious affiliation.

“Thank you for being a part of our special day. You truly captured the essence of our relationship with your words, and made us feel so comfortable during the process.”
